SAP S/4HANA implementation for a leading Australian mining company

project highlights

The Project Background

Deloitte and Tritusa have maintained a relationship for over eight years, with Tritusa providing SAP testing expertise across several previous projects.

Deloitte approached Tritusa as testing partner to manage the end to end SAP S/4HANA testing for one of their global mining client. Tritusa was responsible for overall testing for the program including test management, functional testing, test automation and performance testing.

The Key Challenges

  • Number of legacy applications and their complex integration with SAP
  • Legacy immature testing processes
  • Wide testing scope due to complexity
  • Tight schedule

Tritusa Approach

We deployed a full team of experienced SAP test consultants, including a SAP Program Test Manager to develop the test strategy and manage the test team and work part of the Deloitte project team, a SAP Test Lead, SAP testers and automation test consultants.

Tritusa developed the comprehensive test strategy to including the defining the test phases in scope, tools needed and success/failing criteria which was reviewed and agreed by Deloitte.

As part of the test strategy, it became immediately clear that test automation was needed to ensure comprehensive test coverage and to reduce the test cycle. A number of automation tools were evaluated to meet the requirements and after a Proof of Concept, Tricentis TOSCA tool was chosen and enabled Tritusa to develop and execute appropriate automation scripts.

In developing the test strategy, Tritusa identified a number of additional risk areas that were not part of the initial scope but could affect the outcome to the customer and these were added to the testing scope. Comprehensive management reports were provided on a daily basis to ensure the wider project team were able to review progress.

Tools Used

  • OpenText ALM
  • Tricentis Tosca

Achieved Outcome

  • Tritusa proved repeatedly that agreed testing deliverables delivered on time and signed off by the client.
  • Comprehensive testing delivered within the project timeline to ensure the successful delivery of the project by Deloitte over a number of phases.
  • We automated 100+ critical and high frequent business processes / test cases.
  • We trained a BAU testing resource on automation testing framework and helped them to operationalise and the use of automation test cases part of their BAU testing process.
  • Successful go-live.
  • The collaboration between Deloitte and Tritusa is on a positive note as it has been growing stronger over the years with a string of on-going projects.
